The Sunday visitation included two videos that memorialized Tom as a wonderful family man and friend.  Another visitation service before the funeral Mass on Monday gave us all a last chance to view our dear friend. It was interesting to note the members of two groups. The ‘non-Triangle’ friends for the most part sat quietly thinking their thoughts. The ‘Triangles’ stood in many small groups, visiting and chatting, telling stories as usual. This was done not out of disrespect, but rather as a way of celebrating Tom’s life and memory. If Tom was there he would have been right in the middle of the gathering, perhaps with his usual martini in hand.

After Sunday’s visitation, Bob and Kay Brehm hosted a wonderful dinner at Inverness Country Club for the Dincher family and the ‘Triangles’. During the dinner we learned that Tom’s reported last words to Judy, ‘pushy broad’, were really ‘pouchi brud’ which is a Russian term of endearment that means, ‘I will love you forever’, which Tom learned while on a recent trip to Russia.

The funeral Mass on Monday was held in the beautiful Holy Family Catholic Church in Inverness. The music sung by the full choir was most inspiring, as was the eulogy delivered by Bob Brehm, and the remembrances stories told by son John and several of Tom’s grandchildren.

After the Mass, three members of the Unites States Marine Corps Honor Guard performed a ceremony that included the folding and presenting of the flag of the United States to Judy, and the playing of Taps.

The members of the family and the ‘Triangles’ then accompanied Judy to Francesca’s Familgia restaurant in Barrington for a luncheon.  After toasting Judy for her love and care for Tom, several Triangles told some stories of their special memories of Tom. The Triangles then sang the traditional Triangle fraternity song, Triangle Pals. If you don’t quite remember how well we sing, there is a link at the end of this message to a video made when some Triangle’s made an unusual appearance on “American Idol’.

Finally, Judy sang her own song to Tom, a very touching Nat King Cole song, ‘Unforgettable’. Here is what she sang:

"Unforgettable"

Unforgettable
That's what you are,
Unforgettable
Tho' near or far.

Like a song of love that clings to me,
How the thought of you does things to me.
Never before
Has someone been more...

Unforgettable
In every way,
And forever more
That's how you'll stay.

And that is what we all carried away that day, that while Tom is no longer present among us, his memory will always be in our hearts. For those of you who were unable to join in this celebration, I hope this will convey to you that this great man, Brother Tom Dincher, was sent off in the best of the Triangle tradition.
